Justin Best reported that continues to be a growing part of the newspaper business. Photo journalists at the Herald have been outfitted with new cameras that can take video. They now have the option to take still images and video to report news. The newspaper also has a team of two people who shoot and edit video for the paper for use on the Herald web site.
Ralph Portillo added that new products are popular at Glazer’s that support video for DSLR cameras. Rail systems and lighting are examples of new products that are being introduced.
Mike Archer reported that the trend continues for a quicker turn around of work from schools to print. More schools are using on-line resources from the publisher allowing later deadlines and quicker production of work turned in. In the 1980s it was typical that it would take 10 weeks to print materials sent from schools and, now, the turn around time is down to four weeks due to new technology.
